ABOOK COLLECTIVE will be presenting the newest works by
Joshua Lin and Liang Su at the inaugural PAVILION TAIPEI between January 22-26th, 2026 at the Grand Courtyard( 大院子) 。

This event centers on the theme of “Urban Memory, Nostalgia, and Returning Home,” reflecting on how people, amid movement and change, renegotiate their understanding of “home” and their own place within it. Cities are constantly renewed, yet they quietly accumulate traces of time; these memories continue to shape how we engage with the present and imagine the future. PAVILION TAIPEI brings together galleries from across Asia and around the world, exploring new possibilities of artistic presentation through sincere exchange and a deliberately unhurried pace. Between different cities and cultures, it cultivates a contemporary art platform grounded in dialogue and connection.

Joshua Lin 《Remnants of Time》
Memory is subjective, and the artist’s recollection of the city is blurred—like afterimages left by time. This series examines how cities retain traces of memory even as they change. Using a 4×5 pinhole camera without a lens or focus, light slowly passes through a tiny aperture, accumulating time on film rather than freezing a single moment. The resulting images are not mere representations of reality, but marks of time lingering in space. Their softness and blur reflect memory itself: partial, shifting, yet real. Many of the locations were once hurried work sites, unnoticed at the time, yet they quietly shaped the artist’s understanding of the city and the start of a photographic journey. Returning years later, the city becomes the subject itself. Long exposures erase passing crowds, leaving subtle symbols that linger within the frame. This series captures not just Dihua Street, Bopiliao, or the Western District, but the moment the artist first became a photographer—when the city became a vessel for memory.

Liang Su 《Traces》
Originates from the transformations produced through spatial scanning. During the scanning process, living bodies are stretched, fragmented, and reassembled; recognizable visual information gradually dissolves, becoming subtle traces left by time and space. The work presents the marks formed as living beings move, pause, and gather within environments shaped by environment, belief, and desire. These traces twist, meander, and fracture like digital chromosomes—unique within the networked world and will not disappear over time. Between the figurative past and an abstract future, every life leaves behind its own permanent imprint. The city is not an object to be observed, but a field continuously being written. The image is only a moment in this process. The image is only Traces.
